Where we look we are told that there is only one beauty standard. Advertising on TV, social media and posters show bodies and faces that are retouched, bodies and faces that are not representative of most people’s reality. We are surrounded by „perfection“ and have come to see it as normality, and as a result, we compare ourselves and others to these unrealistic images non-stop. To make matters worse, when searching for terms like stretch marks, cellulite or acne online, we are confronted with countless ways to get rid of these insecurities, suggesting it is abnormal to have them. This can lead to psychological and physical problems, such as depression and eating disorders, to name just two. But the truth is; it is not abnormal. It is the opposite, and it is important that we reframe the narrative and learn to love our bodies.
We at ProudMe are convinced the first step in the normalization of normal bodies, and the displacement of one common ideal of beauty, is the sharing of experience, and the exchange of stories and feelings. YOU are not alone!

Fact Check – We need to act now
“We are living in times where social media heavily affects how we think about our own bodies. We are constantly comparing ourselves to retouched pictures. I was so shocked of the fact how we adapted this really dangerous behaviour in our daily lives and wanted to provide a solution to the problem.”
